A Tuesday
Tue., Oct. 13, 2020 ***
Yup - it's still 2020.
We are expecting a big wind apparently, so I am making sure everything in the yard is safe and will not blow away or get knocked over. I cannot guarantee that I will not get knocked over, of course. Ha.
Then the phone rings and it's my emergency POD person, Jane, and we get to talkin and I discover she is from Ireland. Well, that got us going. And that she used to live in Alberta - in Edmonton at one point, and in Strathcona! What! Small world isn't it sometimes.
After the call, I continue to straighten up outside, fill some buckets of water inside and boom...there goes the power, right around 2pm. Well no use to hang around now so Sadie and I head to town to pick up Norah and get Sadie some new name tags for her collar. Very nice ones too - all rainbow coloured. I got two so they will rattle and at least I can hear her when she goes of the trail, Which I hope she never does again but of course she will.
So I pick up Norah and Sue surprises me with a little cottage pie she just made! And the day before Jean had dropped off a turkey dinner with all the trimmings. I am going to eat good tonight.
Back home, Danielle had come in to use the kitchen gas stove and she had left a pot of water with a pie ti on top. I figured - hey! Double boiler! That's how I will heat up my two dinners. And it worked a charm. I made a big roaring fire, got out my book, had a lovely dinner and a read until way past dark - with my headlamp on, naturally. What a boon that tool is!
Dani came in again to heat up her chai tea and sat in the dark telling me stories of dreams and ghosts and life past death. It was perfect in the dark, She sat far away from me. I still had moments of "uh oh, you are leaving your droplets in my house", but it did seem extreme to kick her out. And it was so warm in my front room with the roaring fire and two dogs,
So we went to bed about 9pm and I listened to several Tapestry podcasts about the afterlife, and near death experiences and supernatural sightings of the Virgin Mary. No CPAP means I won't sleep as well, but I did sleep fitfully until 530 when the lights came back on! Yeah.
So I got up and made some coffee and decided to watch some Coronation Street. It's raining outside and still dark, and I will go back to bed in a bit - with my CPAP - and sleep more deeply and hopefully dream. Maybe my Dad will come visit me in my dream, or Lori, Rain, or Virginia or Linda or any number of other friends who I loved who have passed on. Maybe. A girl can dream, right?
