Is it STILL 2020? When will this end please?

Anyway - had a lovely socially distanced meet up with Diane who is leaving the island, and Sandra and myself over at Kareen's place outdoors. She is going back to Kimberly where she knows she can find a good rental - indeed already has. Here is impossible nearly. We lose so many people due to lack of rentals. We are always short of nurses and restaurant staff of all sorts, including chefs. But I guess there is no money in building rentals or someone would be doing it!

I heard that POD is also closing, as well as Frankly Scarlet - both clothing, jewelery and shoe places. Also Rhubarb has moved to Victoria. We don't have enough tourists now to sustain those places, plus they have very high rent. Landlords refused to budge on rental costs so now they will have no one renting those spots. C'est la vie, I suppose.

Today we have a plumbing emergency - the toilet appears to be backed up - not overflowing (gross), but won't completely empty. This makes me think my septic system must be full. I had it pumped a few years back so perhaps I should have been expecting this. I need to make an arrangement to have it checked every two years or so. Of course this being the long weekend no plumber answered their phone or indeed even called me back. So I have been going down to the park's porta-potty and asked Dani not to shower or do laundry until we have this sorted. I do NOT want a flood anywhere. Again - gross! We can survive a couple of days until a plumber is available I hope. I put out a plaintive plea on Facebook but it's such a beautiful day I doubt anyone will see it until the evening. Dani did say she will be giving a massage to a female plumber today and she will ask her if she might take a look at it for us. I hope she will. Bonus - it would be cool to have a woman plumber! And her name is Dani, too!

I think I may head to Beddis Beach today with Sadie for a leisurely walk.

The weight conumdrum - 217 this morning after eating yesterday. Yesterday's low weight was 214 so perhaps I am heading downward once again. Today I will fast again until tomorrow evening (42 hours) and see what happens. I did love the feeling of a flatter stomach that I had briefly before Covid hit. And the pain in my joints leaves when I cut out sugar. Staying away from the wine is the trick now for me. If I drink my gorgeous wine, my resistance to food is lowered and I may fail to fast - or I may even eat - gasp - carbs! Noooooooooooo

Anyway...
