BNB Season Looming on the Sunny Horizon
I look up my bnb listing online and compare my prices to others on island, and I see I am pretty much in the middle. So I could charge more, but for some reason this raises a guilty feeling. I spent at least $50 per weekend on food, and I hire someone to clean for another $50 each time. So already I have spent $100 before we even get started.
Then the company takes their cut as well so now I am down $108. At the present rate I will take in $250 total, minus $108 - sheesh! I am giving it away.
I make the best scones and I know my place is cleaner than a 5 star hotel, and the view is breathtaking and we are across the street from the beach! I mean, come on. How much would I pay for my own suite in these surroundings? I probably would not balk at $150 per night. Currently I was listed for $129. I moved it up to $136 and it still makes me nervous. I have one reservation for the end of May and he will pay the $129, of course. Dare I increase it?
I do love guests, and I love spoiling them also. I enjoy ironing the sheets - really! - and making the place beautiful, putting flowers in every room, lovely food in the fridge, and of course scones in the morning.
I enjoy talking to them about what to see while they are here - the "ery" tour - cheesery, brewery, cidery, winery. Bourgoyne Bay, Fernwood, Mt. Maxwell, Vesuvius at sunset, Moby's, Barb's Buns, Auntie Pesto's. I love hearing their feedback when they had a great time.
I had two guests once who stayed a week and bought a house. I consider them the most successful guests ever! Will it happen again? I sure hope so!
